You’ll find that people in the franchise business often talk about how one of the perks of franchising is aligning with an established brand. While anyone can recognize that’s a perk, we’d like to take a deep dive into this to explain the many aspects of why it’s such a big benefit.
1. Instant recognition. When you align with an established brand, it means that your brand already has recognition. This means a franchise owner won’t have to do some brand building to try to get their brand known. People will already be familiar with their name. It’s one hurdle that doesn’t need to be jumped!
2. An established customer base. One of the biggest struggles when opening up a business is trying to get customers, but an established brand will already have customers. So, while you can still strive to bring in new customers, there will already be customers that are loyal to the brand.
3. It’s already been branded. As a franchisee, you don’t need to create your brand image. The brand has already been created — the mission, vision, values, brand colors, logo, etc. have already been taken care of.
4. There’s consistency. Since the established brand will already have an identity, it will have a voice. Customers want to see consistency in a brand. However, when new businesses are starting out, it can be tricky to establish their voice. But, a brand who has worked out all of the details will know their voice and be able to stay consistent with their image.
5. Training is often offered. When you become a franchisee, you often have access to training. This allows you to learn the ins and the outs of the business and prepare you for success.
6. There is less risk involved. Aligning with an established brand means there is less risk. This is because the brand has already been around for a little while and worked out some of the initial quirks. They have an established image and following.
7. They give you a good starting point and often offer support. Many established businesses offer some type of support when you align with them as a franchisee. They also help you get started by providing you with the information you need to run your franchise.
