There are two types of people in franchising: Those who want to buy into a franchise or those who want to turn their small business into one.
Let’s take a closer look at each.
The Franchisee
The franchisee is someone who wants to invest in a franchise opportunity. This could be someone who has achieved a measure of success in the past and now wants to take their career trajectory to the next level or a high-level executive tired of the corporate grind.
Franchisees are people who are looking for greater flexibility in life. They see an opportunity to be their own boss, set their own rules, and build something everlasting with the help of their franchisor, which brings us to the second type of person.
The Franchisor
A franchisor started with someone who at one time ran a successful small business and decided it was time to take their business to the next level of success. Generally a small business becomes a franchise as a result of a lack of something: either time or money.
Franchising a business allows the business owner to expand without the risk of debt or the cost of equity. Franchising a business also allows for a level of expansion that may not have been possible had the business owner decided to go it alone.
