Time management is an important part of running any business – including a franchise. Many aspects of a franchise are a taken care of for you, but if you don’t have control over your time, you won’t be able to use those aspects to your advantage. If you feel like the hours are getting away from you, take a look at some of the tips below.
Chunk your time
One effective time management method is “chunking.” In other words, don’t try to multitask, or do everything at once. Divide your time into chunks, and only work on one thing during that time. This prevents you from wasting precious minutes getting your concentration back as you try to focus on one task and then another in a short span.
Prioritize your time
Setting priorities isn’t just a good idea for a franchise; it’s NECESSARY so that you spend the most time on things that are most important. If you dedicate the same hours to more nuanced aspects of your franchise as you do the bigger picture, you’re not following a recipe for success.
Give yourself a break
Don’t forget to work breaks into your schedule! You and your staff need “time out” to regroup just as much as your franchise needs you to manage time wisely.
