Women are being drawn to franchising, as opposed to starting their own businesses from scratch, like moths to a flame. In fact, according to a report by the International Franchise Association (IFA), women-owned franchises have increased by almost 50 percent since 2012. Take a look below to see what’s behind the surge.
Corporations that leave them in the cold
Women often have a hard time making it in traditional corporate America. They’re underrepresented, underpaid and underappreciated. With a franchise, however, that gender gap closes significantly. As long as they’re willing to work hard with proven business models, women find they can achieve the same financial success as men.
Support that is second-to-none
In corporate America – and even ordinary small business ownership – there’s a limited amount of support available to employees. And when it’s doled out, it’s not necessarily doled out in equal parts to women. But franchisors want to see their franchisees succeed – no matter what their gender. They’re willing to offer the support, guidance and advice needed on everything from vendors to branding in order to boost the bottom line.
