You don’t want to be nailed down to the 9-to-5 corporate structure. That’s why you chose to be the owner of your own franchise in the first place. And that’s a good idea, as it turns out. Because your flexibility may be one of the main reasons your franchise can thrive.
Employees value their time
Your staff views its time as equally valuable to your own. That’s part of the reason there’s now more of a “gig” economy, with people making money doing things that fit into their schedules. Offer your people more flexibility in their work arrangements. The more willing you are to accommodate them, the less willing THEY are to leave you for a more flexible company, such as Uber or Lyft.
Software makes it easy
Gone are the days of penciling employees into a schedule, then erasing like mad when they can’t make it. Scheduling software can take all the guess work out of it for you, making it easier than ever to be known as “the flexible boss!”
Last-minute things will happen
A good franchise owner knows they can’t control EVERYthing, and need to go with the flow when emergencies arise – both their own and that of their staff. So, prepare beforehand for how to fill in gaps that may come up when you or others have a last-minute illness, accident, or just need some work-life balance.
How are you bringing flexibility to the job YOU offer these days?
